Falcons Director Of Football Operations Nick Polk Could Also Be Candidate For 49ers’ GM Job

Pro Football Talk mentions that a potential candidate for the 49ers’ GM position worth keeping an eye on is Falcons director of football operations Nick Polk.

This comes after the news that Packers executive Brian Gutekunst is no longer pursuing the 49ers’ GM position and will instead remain in Green Bay.

On Thursday, fellow Packers’ executive Eliot Wolf also withdrew his name from the 49ers’ GM search, despite the fact that both candidates were expected to get follow-up interviews for the position.

The 49ers still have a second interview scheduled with Vikings executive George Paton and haven’t ruled out Cardinals executive Terry McDonough as a potential candidate for the job, but it’s clear that something is impacting candidate’s decisions to serious pursue the opening.

If Polk has a good working relationship with Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan, who is expected to be officially hired in the coming weeks as the 49ers next head coach, it would make sense for the team to give him a long look.

Polk has spent the past eight years as the Falcons’ director of football operations and a total of 13 years with the franchise.

We’ll have more regarding the 49ers’ GM search as the news is available.
