Falcons Moving On Without Jerious Norwood?

The Atlanta Falcons made a lot headlines during this years draft but mainly because they traded away a number of quality draft picks to move up and take WR Julio Jones but they were able to get a quality player (Jacquizz Rodgers) in the fifth-round. The addition of Rodgers make the chances of them re-signing Jerious Norwood seem pretty low.

Norwood’s agent, Bus Cook, told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he doesn’t think that he’ll be returning to the Falcons.

With them drafting a back, they are going in a different direction, I would guess,” Bus Cook speculated. “Jerious is a good football player. Somebody is going to pick him up. He’s a great player. He has had some injuries, but he’s going to make somebody a good player.

We’ve already discussed that there’s likely going to be a hot market for another third-down running back (Darren Sproles) which could make Norwood a solid consolation prize for the other teams that miss out on him. A speculative list options would include: the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
