Falcons Signing P/K Kasey Redfern To PS, Release P Sam Irwin-Hill

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they’ve signed punter/kickoff specialist Kasey Redfern to their practice squad on Friday and released P Sam Irwin-Hill.

Here’s the Falcons updated practice squad:

  1. WR Christian Blake
  2. S Chris Cooper
  3. QB Danny Etling
  4. OL Sean Harlow
  5. DT Jacob Tuioti-Mariner
  6. DT Justin Zimmer
  7. WR Brandon Powell
  8. OT Lukayus McNeil
  9. LB Ahmad Thomas
  10. P/K Kasey Redfern

According to Adam Schefter, the expectation is that the Falcons will promote Redfern to their active roster before Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

Falcons punter Matt Wile is dealing with a right quad injury and recently signed Irwin-Hill had visa issues that couldn’t be worked out for him to play Sunday, according to Vaughn McClure.

Redfern, 28, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Wofford back in 2014. He was, unfortunately, cut loose during the preseason.

Redfern had brief stints with the Jaguars, Chargers and Panthers before Carolina traded him to the Browns as part of the Andy Lee deal at the start of the 2015 season. Cleveland ultimately waived him a few days later and he sat out the entire 2016 season.

After a brief stint with the Lions, Redfern joined the Cowboys in April. However, he was waived coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Redfern appeared in one game and totaled 50 punt yards on a single attempt.
