Falcons Could Target Chiefs G Jon Asamoah In Free Agency

Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com mentions that Chiefs impending free agent G Jon Asamoah could be on the Falcons radar in free agency.

As McClure points out, Asamoah was draft by new Falcons assistant general manager Scott Pioli and would be a clear upgrade to Harland Gunn.

  • McClure also expects the Falcons to prioritize re-signing free agent C Joe Hawley.

Assuming that the Falcons are looking to upgrade their offensive line in free agency and are willing to consider Chiefs players, Geoff Schwartz could be another guy to watch, even though he wasn’t draft by Pioli. He and Asamoah are two of the best available interior offensive line available in this year’s free agent market, but that could mean that there will be an increased level of interest in them as well.

Asamoah, 25, missed three games this past season due to a calf issue, but still graded out as a top-20 guard, according to Pro Football Focus. We have him listed as the No. 52 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
