Former Giants GM Jerry Reese Turned Down Opportunity To Interview For Raiders’ GM Job

A league source tells Adam Schefter that former Giants GM Jerry Reese turned down an opportunity to interview for the Raiders’ vacant GM job.

Oakland has begun reaching out to general manager candidates to replace Reggie McKenzie, who was fired a few weeks ago. However, Schefter says there are concerns from potential GM candidates that the Raiders’ job won’t carry the type of autonomy that most GM jobs do.

It’s clear that Jon Gruden is in charge of the Raiders and likely to have a large say in personnel matters moving forward. Although, some reports have said that the Raiders would like to hire someone respected and capable of standing up to Gruden as their next GM.

Reese, 55, was hired as the Giants GM in 2007 and has spent 11 years in charge of the team before being fired last year.

In total, the Giants were 90-82 (52.3 percent) under Reese, which includes four playoff appearances and two Super Bowl titles.

We’ll have more regarding the Raiders’ GM search as the news is available.
