Former XFL RB Matt Jones Drawing Interest From NFL

According to Mike Garafolo, former XFL and NFL RB Matt Jones has been in communication with some teams and could be an option to replace players who opt out or are placed on the COVID-19 list.

Jones played well enough during his stint in the XFL this year with the St. Louis Battlehawks to catch the attention of some in the league. He had 80 carries for 314 yards (3.9 YPC) and added a 25-yard touchdown reception.

He was named to the midseason All-XFL team before the league had to shut down during the pandemic.

Jones, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Redskins back in 2015. He spent just over two years in Washington before he was waived at the start of the 2017 season.

Jones later caught on with the Colts and was on and off of their roster over the next year. The Eagles signed him to a contract in 2018, but he was once again among their roster cuts at the start of the season.

For his career, Jones has appeared in 25 games and rushed for 964 yards on 248 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 377 yards and seven touchdowns.
