Free Agent CB Alterraun Verner Scheduled To Visit Undisclosed Team

Josina Anderson, citing a source close to free agent CB Alterraun Verner, reports that he has scheduled a workout with an undisclosed team for next week.

The Jaguars previously brought Verner in for a workout but was reportedly out of shape during the session and didn’t sign him to a contract with the team.

I’ve worked out for a few teams including the Jaguars,” Verner said, per Sirius. “I feel very confident something will happen come late summer.

Some have tossed out the Giants as a speculative landing spot for Verner, so that could be something to keep an eye on.

Verner, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Titans back in 2010. He spent four years in Tennessee before signing a  four-year, $25.5 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers in 2014.

Verner was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season when the Buccaneers released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Verner appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 16 tackles, one interception and seven pass defenses.
