Free agent DT Barry Cofield Finally Healthy & Looking For Next Opportunity

Free agent DT Barry Cofield mentioned during a recent interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he’s now 100 percent healthy after undergoing surgery back in March.

Cofield admitted that he unfortunately had a setback in recovery a few months ago, which forced him to undergo a second procedure.

There hasn’t been any reported interest in Cofield since he became available several months ago, but he said that he’s looking forward to joining an NFL roster at some point in the near future.

As of now, Cofield is one of the best available interior defensive lineman, so it would not be all that shocking to see him take a couple of visits in the coming weeks.

Cofield, 31, had another two years remaining on his six-year, $36 million contract when the Redskins cut him loose in a move that created $4,122,500 in available cap space.

In 2014, Cofield recorded seven tackles and a sack over the course of eight games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 68 defensive tackle in the league out of 81 qualifying players.
