Stephanie Taylor of the Tuscaloosa News has confirmed with authorities of the University of Alabama that free agent FB Le’Ron McClain is on the run from authorities after an arrest warrant was obtained to charge him with selling synthetic marijuana.

Tuscaloosa Police tried to serve McClain with a warrant at his mother’s house at 5 p.m. Wednesday after they recovered 122 grams of synthetic marijuana, or “spice” during an investigation, according to spokesman Sgt. Brent Blankley.

Agents met with McClain at the Tuscaloosa Police Department this morning and informed him that he would have a warrant for his arrest as soon as the chemical test results came back from the lab later today,” Blankley wrote in a release.

McClain’s mother told authorities that he had left the state Wednesday afternoon.

McClain, 29, hasn’t found any reported interest as a free agent in recent months, despite the fact that he expressed some optimism that he would be in camp with an NFL team this summer.

He spent the past two years with the Chargers and has seven years of experience. However, the fullback market has been almost nonexistent in recent years.

McClain appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers last season and totaled 32 yards rushing on 11 carries, but was limited to playing just 134 offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
