The New York Giants announced they’ve officially made six roster moves on Thursday, per Dan Salomone of the team’s site.
The full list includes:
- Signed RB Joshua Kelley, DB Raheem Layne, and DB Jonathan Sutherland.
- Released DB Jalen Mills.
- Placed DB Elijah Riley on injured reserve.
- Traded DL Jordan Phillips to the Cowboys.
Kelley, 26, was a former fourth-round pick by the Chargers in the 2020 NFL Draft out of UCLA. He finished a four-year, $4,075,339 rookie contract and is testing the market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.
In 2023, Kelley appeared in all 17 games for the Chargers and recorded 107 rushing attempts for 405 yards (3.8 YPC) and two touchdowns, to go along with eight receptions for 32 yards (4.0 YPC).
Mills, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract and tested the open market as an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
The Eagles brought Mills back on a one-year contract worth up to $5 million. He was once again an unrestricted free agent in 2021 when he agreed to a four-year, $24 million deal with the Patriots.
New England re-signed Mills last year and converted him back to safety. He signed another one-year deal with the Giants this offseason.
In 2023, Mills appeared in 17 games for the Patriots and recorded 45 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
