Giants Promote CB Brandon Dixon, Sign CB Darryl Morris

Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports that the Giants are promoting CB Brandon Dixon to their active roster on Tuesday.

  • The Giants announced that they’ve signed CB Darryl Morris to their 53-man roster and addedย DB Jeremiah McKinnon to their practice squad.

The Giants’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OLย Adam Bisnowaty
  2. WR Marquis Bundy
  3. S Ryan Murphy
  4. WR Darius Powe
  5. G Ethan Cooper
  6. LB Trevor Bates
  7. DE Jordan Williams
  8. TEย Matt LaCosse
  9. OT Nick Becton
  10. DB Jeremiah McKinnon

Dixon, 27, is a former sixth-round draft pick by the Jets in 2014. He lasted just a few months in New York before he was waived coming out of the preseason.

Since then, Dixon has played for several teams including the Buccaneers, Seahawks, Colts, Patriots, Saints and most recently for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh signed Dixon to their practice squad at the end of last year and brought him back on a future/reserve contract. However, he was waived at the start of the regular season.

Dixon later signed on to the Giants’ practice squad last month.

In 2014, Dixon appeared in 14 games in a reserve role in Tampa Bay and totaled nine tackles, one interception, and two pass defenses.

Morris, 27, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas State back in 2013. He was on and off of their practice squad before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Texans.

Morris was in line to be a restricted free agent, but the Texans elected toย not tender him an offer, which allowed him to sign on with the Jets last March. Morris was, unfortunately, cut looseย coming out of the preseason last year before signing on with the Colts soon after.

The Colts placed on injured reserve a few months ago before cutting him loose not long after.

In 2016, Morris appeared in 12 games for the Colts and recorded 35 tackles, one interception and six pass defenses.
