Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Giants are signing veteran QB Colt McCoy to a contract on Thursday.
The Giants had been linked to Matt Moore in recent days as a potential backup to Daniel Jones, but it appears as though McCoy proved to be their best option in the end.
McCoy, 33, is a former third-round pick out of Texas by the Browns back in 2010. He was traded from Cleveland to the 49ers back in 2013 and later signed on with Washington as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.
McCoy made a base salary of $3 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
For his career, McCoy has appeared in 40 games for the Browns, 49ers and Redskins and completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 6,080 yards, 29 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. He has also rushed for 499 yards and two touchdowns.
