Cedric Benson Done For The Season After Undergoing Surgery

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced that RB Cedric Benson underwent surgery on his on his foot yesterday and is officially done for the season.

“I thought Benson was playing very well each and every week [before the injury],” said McCarthy.

Looks like the Packer will have to make due with Alex Green and James Starks for the remainder of the season.

According to Rob Demovsky of the Press-Gazette, there’s a “growing concern” that Packers RB Cedric Benson could be done for the season.

Benson was placed on injured reserve with the designation to return because of a Lisfranc sprain that he suffered early on in the season. Green Bay was obviously hoping that he would be able to return at some point in time, but Lisfranc injuries tend to be troublesome and require surgery.

The Packers running attack is as bad as any team in the league, so they’ll have to figure out some way to get some production out of Alex Green and James Starks, assuming that Benson is in fact done for the year.
