The Jaguars officially placed LB Telvin Smith on the reserve/retired list Wednesday.
The team also put DE Yannick Ngakoue on the did not report list as he holds out for a new contract.
Smith previously announced his intention to sit out the 2019 season as he takes some time away from football for his mental health. The Jaguars fined him for missing mandatory minicamp.
Smith, 28, is a former fifth-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was in the final year of a four-year, $2,431,052 rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a four-year, $50 million extension in 2017.
Smith stands to make base salaries of $9.75 million and $10 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2018, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 134 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 44 linebacker out of 92 qualifying players.
Ngakoue, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.48 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $834,269 for the 2019 season.
Ngakoue will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Ngakoue appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded eight sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 30 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
