Jaguars Sign 10 Players To Futures Deals

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 10 players to futures contracts for the 2018 season on Monday, according to Mike Kaye.

The full list of futures signing for the Jaguars includes:

  1. WR Lamar Atkins
  2. FB/DE Hunter Dimick
  3. LB Brooks Ellis
  4. OT Avery Gennesy
  5. TE David Grinnage
  6. S Charlie Miller
  7. CB Sammy Seamster
  8. WR Tevaun Smith
  9. OT Brandon Thomas
  10. RB Brandon Wilds

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Smith, 24, wound up signing on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa back in May. He was, unfortunately, among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason but was later added to the team’s practice squad.

The Colts elected to promote Smith to their active roster before waiving him and eventually signing him to their practice squad. He was later waived from injured reserve with a settlement.

Smith had a brief stint on the Raiders practice squad a few weeks ago.

In 2016, Smith was active for two games but has yet to record a statistic.

Seamster, 26, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in 2014. He was unable to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster during his rookie season.

Seamster had brief stints with the Dolphins and Saints before he joined the Bills during the 2015 season, but was waived by the Bills at the start of last year and later signed on to the Cowboys’ practice squad. He returned to Dallas on a future/reserve contract but was among their final roster cuts at the start of the regular season.

Seamster had a brief stint on the Bills’ practice squad this season before signing with the Jaguars a month ago.

In 2015, Seamster appeared in one game for the Bills but did not record a statistic.
