Jaguars Sign WR Montay Crockett, Waive/Injured WR Tevaun Smith

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Wednesday that they’ve signed WR Montay Crockett and waived WR Tevaun Smith with an injury designation.

Crockett, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Southern last year. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Packers cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

The Jaguars later signed him to their practice squad and eventually promoted him to their active roster before placing him on waivers late last season. The Texans claimed him off of waivers but cut him loose following this year’s draft.

During his college career at Georgia Southern, Crockett caught 28 passes for 442 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of 25 games.
