Ian Rapoport reports that the Jaguars are bringing in free agent running backs for workouts on Tuesday including veteran RB Jamaal Charles.
- Tom Pelissero adds thatย Charcandrick West is also trying out for the Jaguars.
Charles previously worked out for the Saints and later visited with the Redskins, but there hasn’t been any recent interest in him until now.
Charles,ย 31, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2008. After nine years in Kansas City, the Chiefs released him last year and he later signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Broncos.
Charles has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2017, Charles has appeared in 14 games for the Broncos and rushed for 296 yards on 69 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 129 yards receiving and one touchdown.
West, 27, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Abilene Christian back in 2014. He returned to the Chiefs on an exclusive rights contract in 2016 before agreeing to a three-year, $4.2 million contract.
West was set to make a base salary of $1.45 million for the 2018 season when the Chiefs released him. The Jets signed him to a contract in August but waived him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.
In 2017, West appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 72 yards on 18 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 150 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
