Jets Activate LB James Burgess From COVID-19 List

The New York Jets officially activated LB James Burgess from the COVID-19 list on Thursday.

James Burgess

Burgess, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville back in 2016. He was, unfortunately, among Miami’s final roster cuts but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

After brief stints with the Chargers, Ravens, Jaguars and Browns, Burgess signed a futures contract with the Dolphins, but was cut loose after the draft. From there, he signed on with the Jets.

New York brought Burgess back on a one-year contract this past March.

In 2019, Burgess appeared in 10 games for the Jets and recorded 80 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble, a recovery and five passes defended.
