Jets Worked Out 7 Players Including WR Mario Alford & OLB Ivan McLennan

Kimberly A. Martin reports that the Jets also worked out WR Mario Alford and OLB Ivan McLennan on Tuesday.

  • Adam Caplan adds that the Jets also worked out S Shamiel Gary.
  • Earlier in day, reports said that the team brought in C Bryan Stork and S Elijah Shumate for tryouts as well.

Alford, 24, was taken in the seventh round of last year’s draft by the Bengals. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,339,104 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

The Bengals waived Alford with an injury designation in the final week of the preseason before later waiving him from injured reserve with an settlement.

Last year, Alford appeared in one game for the Bengals caught one pass for 15 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

McLennan, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State back in May. He was unfortunately cut loose in the final week of the preseason by the Falcons.

During his two years at Washington State, McLennan recorded 59 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks a forced fumble and two pass defenses.
