Jets Place RG Brian Winters & LB Mike Catapano On I.R., Promote 2 Players To Active Roster

The New York Jets announced that they have placed RG Brian Winters (shoulder) and OLB Mike Catapano (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and promoted OT Donald Hawkins and DL Brandin Bryant to their active roster in corresponding roster moves.

  • The Jets also signed C Kyle Friend and TE Jason Vander to their practice squad.

Winters, 25, is a former third-round pick by the Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft. He is in the final year of a four-year, $2.903 million rookie contract that included a $643,876 signing bonus and stands to make a base salary of $708,000 this year.

He could be a top priority for the Jets this offseason, so it will be interesting to see how the team approaches contract negotiations with their starting right guard.

In 2016, appeared in 13 games for the Jets and accounted for 806 total snaps. ProFootballFocus rates him as the No. 32 overall guard out of 76 qualifying players.

Catapano, 26, is a former seventh-round pick by the Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft. He is also in the final year of his rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 this season.

He also landed on the season-ending injured reserve last season after sustaining a foot injury late in the season.

In 2016, Catapano appeared in 11 games for the Jets and recorded four total tackles and no other statistics.
