Carter, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract before signing a four-year, $17 million contract with the Buccaneers in March of 2015.

The Buccaneers elected to cut him loose in March of last year and he eventually signed a one-year contract with the Jets.

In 2016, Carter appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 16 tackles, no sacks or interceptions and one pass defense.
