Jets Sign LB A.J. Edds & Release CB Ellis Lankster

The Jets announced the signing of LB A.J. Edds and the release of CB Ellis Lankster Monday night.

Edds, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins back in 2010. He spent some time with the Patriots and Colts before signing with the Jets this past May.

New York cut him loose on Saturday as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players, but it looks like Edds was in the discussion for one of the last remaining roster spots.

He hasn’t appeared in a NFL game since 2011 when he was with Indianapolis.

Lankster, 27, signed a two-year contract with the Jets back in early March and happens to play a position of need for New York. In 2013, Lankster appeared in 15 games and recorded 18 tackles.
