The New York Jets announced that they’ve signed S Marqui Christian to their active roster on Wednesday.
Christian has had quite the week. He was reinstated from suspension before being released by the Bears. From there, Christian signed on to the Bears’ practice squad, but it looks like the Jets stepped up and offered him a spot on their 53-man roster.
Christian, 25, is a former fifth-round of the Cardinals back in 2016. Arizona waived Christian a few weeks into the 2016 regular season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Rams.
Christian played out the year of his four-year, $2.55 million contract. He agreed to a one-year deal worth $2 million for the 2020 season with the Jets this offseason. However, the deal later fell through and he later signed on with the Bears in August.
In 2019, Christian appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 34 tackles, no interceptions and two passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 74 safety out of 86 qualifying players.
