Jets Sign RB Stevan Ridley

Update:

The Jets announced the signing of former Patriots RB Stevan Ridley on Monday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are signing RB Stevan Ridley to a contract.

  • According to Rapoport, Ridley also had offers from the Redskins and Dolphins, but one of the deciding factors for him was the opportunity to play in OC Chan Gailey’s offensive system.

Ridley’s market was slow moving until the past few weeks when he visited with the Redskins, Jets, and Dolphins.

He is, however, coming off of a major knee injury that will almost certainly factor into the total salary he receives from the Jets.

Ridley, 26, played out his four-year, $2,953,500 rookie contract that included $1,023,000 guaranteed and is one of the best available running backs remaining in the free agent market.

In 2014, Ridley ran for 340 yards on 94 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 20 yards receiving and two total touchdowns over the course of six games.

We had Ridley listed as the No. 77 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
