Jets Tried Out Six Players

According to Howard Balzer, the New York Jets brought in six free agentsĀ for workouts this week, including LB Marquis Flowers and WR Tanner McEvoy.

The full list of tryouts for the Jets includes:

  1. LB Marquis Flowers
  2. LB Corey Nelson
  3. LB Marcus Smith
  4. WR Tanner McEvoy
  5. DL Destiny Vaeao
  6. TE Hakeem Valles

Flowers, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2014. He was traded to the Patriots at the start of last season in return for aĀ 2018 seventh-round pick.

Flowers played out the final year of his four-year, $2,298,680 contract before returning to the Patriots this offseason. Unfortunately, he was released coming out of the preseason and later signed by the Lions.

Detroit released Flowers last month. Since becoming a free agent, Flowers has worked out Texans, Chiefs, and JaguarsĀ but left each meeting without a contract.

In 2018, Flowers has appeared in five games for the Lions and recorded two tackles.

McEvoy, 25, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin in 2016. He was able to make Seattle’s active roster as a rookie but was cut loose back in August.

McEvoy quickly signed with the SaintsĀ but was among New Orleans’ final roster cuts.Ā He was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins but was cut loose a couple weeks into the regular season.

The Saints signed him to their practice squad last month but was released after a couple of weeks.

In 2018, McEvoy has appeared in two games but did not record any statistics.
