Jets “Very Open” To Trading Down From No. 3 Overall

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan told reporters on Monday at the owner’s meeting that they’re “very open to potentially moving back from three” in this year’s draft.

We’re very open to potentially moving back from three,” Maccagnan said, per Brian Costello. “If we end up staying at 3 and taking a player, we think there are some very good players at 3. But we’d definitely be interested if another team came with an offer that we felt was worthy of moving out of the spot.”

Maccagnan added that he can’t envision them trading up, but they’re intrigued by the possibility of moving back and picking up some extra draft picks.

According to Maccagnan, they’ve had conversations about moving back and NFL teams putting out feelers, but there’s nothing concrete right now, per Connor Hughes.

It’s been clear for some time now that the Jets are the team to watch in terms of trading out of the top-five picks.

New York could use some more draft picks to work with after they made the move up last year to select QB Sam Darnold and the best way of doing so is to part with the No. 3 pick.

It remains to be seen whether there will be a market for the Jets’ pick, as most teams are typically looking to trade up for a quarterback. It’s possible that Dwayne Haskins could have enough interest that teams could contact the Jets at No. 3, but a trade may not happen until during the draft.

We’ll have more regarding the Jets as the news is available.
