Jets Waive WR Lucky Whitehead From IR With Settlement

The New York Jets officially waived WR Lucky Whitehead from injured reserve with a settlement on Friday.

Whitehead, 26, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2015. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.585 million contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season when the Cowboys elected to move on from him last year.

The Jets later claimed him off of waivers and he was on and off of their injured reserve list last year. Unfortunately, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to injured reserve before being waived with an injury settlement a few weeks later.

Whitehead was waived with an injury designation earlier in the week and reverted to injured reserve.

In 2016, Whitehead appeared in 15 games and caught three passes for 48 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries to go along with 394 kick return yards.
