Jets WR Vyncint Smith Out A Month Following Core Muscle Surgery

According to Tom Pelissero, Jets WR Vyncint Smith is expected to have core muscle surgery that will keep him out for at least a month.

Pelissero says the specific timeline is expected to be five to eight weeks, according to Smith’s agent.

Smith was in line to start for the Jets in three-receiver sets before the injury, so this is unfortunate for him and the team.

Smith, 24, signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Limestone College. He was able to make Houston’s final roster as a rookie before being waived coming out of the preseason last year and joining the practice squad.

The Jets signed Smith to their active roster after a few weeks.

In 2019, Smith appeared in 13 games for the Jets and caught 17 passes for 225 yards and rushed three times for 52 yards and a touchdown.
