Jordy Nelson Undergoes Knee Procedure, Will Miss The Preseason

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Tuesday that WR Jordy Nelson underwent a procedure on his knee and will miss the entire preseason, via Rob Demovsky.

  • Adam Schefter reports that doctors tried correcting nerve issue in Nelson’s knee that has bothered him since college.
  • Nelson’s timetable is 4-6 weeks, but Green Bay is “hopeful” that Nelson will be able to return for Week 1’s game against the 49ers.
  • James Jones had similar issue and has recovered just fine.
  • Randall Cobb left practice on Tuesday with a bicep injury, so the Packers roster has taken quite the hit in recent days.

Nelson, 28, has dealt with a few injuries in the past year. He missed four games in 2012 due to hamstring and ankle issues, so there is some concern regarding his health moving forward. James Jones and Jermichael Finley could be in line to have big seasons for the Packers offense this year.
