At Least 4 Teams Already Interested In CB Trumaine Brock

Update:

A 49ers’ spokesman denied that they’ve reached out to free agent CB Tramaine Brock and they have no interest in re-signing him, according to Matt Maiocco.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that the 49ers have expressed interest in re-signing CB Tramaine Brock now that he’s been cleared in the domestic violence case.

Adam Caplan is reporting that there are “at least” four NFL teams interested in bringing in free agent CB Trumaine Brock for a visit now that his domestic violence case has been dismissed, due to a lack of evidence.

There are a number of teams who could use help at cornerback right now including the Eagles, so I’m sure we’ll hear more about the interested teams in the near future.

A few months back, Jason Cole of B/R reported that several NFL teams were keeping tabs on Brock in the event that district attorney in Santa Clara, California did not pursue charges against him for the domestic violence incident.

Sources told Cole that Brock had been in line to make as much as $10-$11 million per year in a new contract prior to his release by the 49ers.

Brock, 28, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Belhaven College back in 2010. He was in the final year of his five-year, $17.323 million contract and set to make a base salary of $3.1 million for the 2017 season when the 49ers cut him in a move that freed up $3.55 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Brock appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 59 tackles, no sacks, one interception, a forced fumble and 14 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
