Lions Claim CB Marcus Cooper Off Waivers From Bears

Ian Rapoport reports that the Lions have claimed CB Marcus Cooper off of waivers from the Bears on Thursday.

According to Rapoport, the transactions is deferred until Friday.

Cooper, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 49ers’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

The Chiefs traded Cooper to the Cardinals in return for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick and he played his contract before signing a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bears last year.

Cooper was set to make base salaries of $5 million over the final two years when the Bears cut him loose last offseason and later re-signed him to a one-year contract this past March.

The Bears waived Cooper on Wednesday.

In 2018, Cooper has appeared in two games for the Bears but did not record any statistics.
