Lions DT Ndamukong Suh Next In Line For An Extension?

As things stand right now, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh carries a cap figure of $21 million for the 2014 season. He still has two years and $24 million remaining on his rookie deal, so it would make sense for the Lions to consider a contract extension at some point in the next year.

โ€œIโ€™m two years away from even considering those things, but to be honest with you Iโ€™d love to be here in Detroit,โ€ said Suh, via the Detroit Free Press. โ€œItโ€™s a team and itโ€™s an organization I love being a part of and playing for.โ€

Suh, 26, put together another solid season for the Lions defense in 2012 and is part of one of the best interior defensive tandems in the league.

Thereโ€™s been talk that QB Matthew Stafford could be the next in line for a contract extension given that he too has a very large cap number of $20.8 million this season.

It probably makes more sense to address Staffordโ€™s contract first, but thereโ€™s plenty of incentive for Detroit to address both players in the next year.
