Lions DT Ndamukong Suh Next In Line For An Extension?

As things stand right now, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh carries a cap figure of $21 million for the 2014 season. He still has two years and $24 million remaining on his rookie deal, so it would make sense for the Lions to consider a contract extension at some point in the next year.

“I’m two years away from even considering those things, but to be honest with you I’d love to be here in Detroit,” said Suh, via the Detroit Free Press. “It’s a team and it’s an organization I love being a part of and playing for.”

Suh, 26, put together another solid season for the Lions defense in 2012 and is part of one of the best interior defensive tandems in the league.

There’s been talk that QB Matthew Stafford could be the next in line for a contract extension given that he too has a very large cap number of $20.8 million this season.

It probably makes more sense to address Stafford’s contract first, but there’s plenty of incentive for Detroit to address both players in the next year.
