The Detroit Lions have reached out to free agent G Rob Sims about a new contract in recent weeks, according toย Tim Twentyman.
The market has been very quiet for the veteran guard, but he is among the best interior offensive linemenย available in the free agent market.
Sims, 31, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2006. He was traded to the Lions in April of 2010 for a fifth-round pick that later became S Kam Chancellor.
Sims has spent the past five years with the Lions and hasn’t missed a single game since he arrived in Detroit.
Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the N0. 40 guardย out of 78ย qualifying players, due in large part to his effectiveness as blocker inย screen passes.ย
