Lions Interested In Re-Signing Veteran G Rob Sims

The Detroit Lions have reached out to free agent G Rob Sims about a new contract in recent weeks, according to Tim Twentyman.

The market has been very quiet for the veteran guard, but he is among the best interior offensive linemen available in the free agent market.

Sims, 31, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2006. He was traded to the Lions in April of 2010 for a fifth-round pick that later became S Kam Chancellor.

Sims has spent the past five years with the Lions and hasn’t missed a single game since he arrived in Detroit.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 40 guard out of 78 qualifying players, due in large part to his effectiveness as blocker in screen passes.

  1. His play last season was very unsteady due to offseason shoulder surgery. If he has completely recovered, good. If not, well…
