Lions Re-Signing CB Marcus Cooper To One-Year Extension

Update:

The Detroit Lions announced that they have re-signed CB Marcus Cooper to a one-year extension.

Adam Caplan reports that the Lions are re-signing CB Marcus Cooper to a one-year extension through the 2019 season.

Cooper, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 49ers’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

The Chiefs traded Cooper to the Cardinals in return for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick and he played his contract before signing a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bears last year.

Cooper was set to make base salaries of $5 million over the final two years when the Bears cut him loose last offseason and later re-signed him to a one-year contract this past March.

The Bears waived Cooper in November and was quickly claimed off waivers by the Lions.

In 2018, Cooper appeared in two games for the Bears and four games for the Lions, recording one tackle, one forced fumble, and no interceptions.
