Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are releasing CBย DeShawn Shead on Saturday as they work to get down to the 53-man limit.

Shead, 28, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State back in 2012. He returned to the Seahawks on a one-year exclusive rights contract for the 2016 season.
Last year, Seattle declined to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent but later brought him back on a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Shead signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Lions this past March.
In 2017, Shead appeared in two games for the Seahawks and recorded two tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
