The Lions announced Sunday that they’ve signed Sย Glover Quin to a two-year contract extension.
- Adam Schefter reports that Quin receives a two-year, $13 million extensionย with $9.5 million guaranteed.
โGlover is one of our team leaders, and throughout his career has been a consummate professional on and off the field,โ Lions Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Quinn said.ย โWe are thrilled that he will be a Lion for the next three seasons.
โI also want to thank Glover and his representatives for their work in making this contract extension a reality.โ
The Lions were focused on getting an extension done before the start of the season and it looksย like the two parties managed to find a balance.
Quin, 31, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. After four years in Houston, Quinn signed a five-year, $23.5 million contract with the Lions in March of 2013.
Quin is currently in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.4 million for the 2017 season.
In 2016, Quin appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 68 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and five pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 safetyย out of 90 qualifying players.
