Lions Signing WR Andre Roberts To A One-Year Deal

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Lions have agreed to terms with WR Andre Roberts on a one-year contract.

Caplan adds that the Lions see Roberts as someone with the ability to play in slot and on the outside in their offense while also helping them as a punt and kick returner.

Roberts visited with the Saints and Bills since becoming available, but it appears as though the Lions were ultimately his best option.

Roberts, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract in Arizona before signings a four-year, $16 million contract.

Washington elected to cut him loose over a month ago in a move that freed up $3 million in available cap space for the Redskins.

In 2015, Roberts appeared in nine games for the Redskins and catching 11 passes for 135 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also contributed 231 kick return yards and a touchdown.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
