Lions Tried Out Four Including CB Captain Munnerlyn

According to Aaron Wilson, the Detroit Lions hosted four defensive backs for tryouts on Friday including Micah Hannemann, A.J. Howard, Derrick Kindred and Captain Munnerlyn.

Munnerlyn, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Panthers back in 2009. He spent five years in Carolina before signing a three-year, $11.25 million deal with the Vikings back in 2014.

Munnerlyn elected to return to the Panthers for the 2017 season when he agreed to a four-year, $21 million contract. However, Carolina cut him loose this past February.

Munnerlyn signed on with the Bills during training camp but was released coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Munnerlyn appeared in all 16 games for the Panthers and recorded 47 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 83 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.

Kindred, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. Cleveland waived him back in April and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Colts.

Indianapolis elected to cut Kindred loose during the preseason and he was claimed off of waivers by the Jets. New York waived him a few weeks after.

In 2018, Kindred appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 43 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 90 safety out of 93 qualifying players.
