Lions Waive TE Tim Wright With Injury Designation

The Detroit Lions placedย TE Tim Wright on waivers Thursday with an injury designation, according to Doug Kyed.

Should Wright clear waivers on Friday, he would revert to the Lions’ injured reserve list.

Wright, 26,ย wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2013. He spent a year in Tampa Bay before he was traded to the Patriots in a deal for G Logan Mankins.

The Patriots waived Wright a year later and he returned to the Buccaneers after theyย claimed off of waivers.ย Interestingly enough, the Buccaneers managed to trade Wright for a second time in August of last year to the Lions in return for K Kyle Brindza.

Detroit elected to re-signย Wright to aย one-year, $675,000 contract back in March.

In 2015, Wright appeared in nine games for the Lionsย and caught nineย passes for 77ย yards receiving and twoย touchdowns.
