Lions Waive WR Skye Dawson

The Detroit Lions placed WR Skye Dawson on waivers Wednesday, according to Tim Twentyman.

The Lions elected to sign a couple of veteran players including WR Greg Salas and CB Chris Owens to contracts Wednesday, so it’s not surprising to see them make a subsequent roster move.

Dawson, 24, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of TCU back in May of 2013. He spent just a few months with the team before he was waived at the start of the season.

The Buccaneers later signed him to their practice squad, but he was once again waived at the start of the 2014 season. Detroit later signed him to a future/reserve contract in January.

During the 2013 season, Dawson appeared in seven games for the Buccaneers and caught two passes for 12 yards receiving to go along with 15 yards rushing on two carries. He also contributed as a kick and punter for the Buccaneers.
