Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions have informed RBย Mikel Leshoure that he will be waived.
LeShoure’s name has come up quite often in recent years as a possible trade candidate, but the Lions now have enough depth at running back whereย they can move on without the former second-round pick.
Leshoure, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and stands to make $645,000 for the 2014 season. It will be interesting to see if anyone claims him off of waivers.
In 2013, he appeared in just three games and totaled only two carries for nine yards.
