ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers are expected toย start second-year QB Mike Glennon against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.
This should come as little surprise given that starting quarterbackย Josh McCown suffered a serious thumb sprain on his throwing hand during last week’s blowout loss to the Falcons.ย McCown is hoping toย avoid surgery and instead rest and rehab his injured thumb, perย Rick Stroud.
Tampa Bay added Mike Kafka to their active roster earlier in the day to be the team’s backup option in Week 4.
Last week,ย Glennon completed 17-of-24 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown against theย Falcons.
It will be interesting to see if he’s able to play at a high level and possibly force the team to consider playing him even after McCown returns from his injury.
