ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Steelers WR Mike Wallace “is not going to sign thatย [restricted free agent] tender.” Schefter adds that this “means he is not going to be at OTAs.”
Wallace’s tender is aย one-year deal worth $2.742 million, but the Steelers have been freeing up extra cash to prevent team’s from signing him away.
Schefter adds that the two sides haven’t made much of any progress thus far which makes it seem very likely that he’ll be sitting out for a good portion of their offseason workouts.
Previous reports have mentioned that Wallace is looking for a deal similar to Larry Fitzgerald‘sย eight-year, $128.5 million contract. Even if the Steelers wanted to keep him at that price, they couldn’t. Antonio Brown will be in a similar situation next year, so you can bet he’ll be monitoring the situation closely.
