New Team Has Expressed Interest In DE Greg Hardy

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that a new team has expressed interest in free agent DE Greg Hardy.

According to Werder, the newfound interest in Hardy is being aided by the fact that DE Dwight Freeney has signed with the Falcons, leaving Hardy as the best available pass rusher.

A few weeks ago, Hardy visited and worked out for the Jaguars, so it appears as though there’s a chance he could be on the a team’s roster during training camp. Jacksonville did not sign Hardy to a contract following the session and have since said that they were just doing their homework.

Beyond that, the Redskins reportedly have had internal discussions about possibly signing Hardy.

Hardy, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He spent five years in Carolina before signing a one-year contract worth $11.3 million with the Cowboys that included weekly bonuses as a way to protect the team from him missing a number of games.

In 2015, Hardy appeared in 12 games and recorded 35 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a pass defense for the Cowboys. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 defensive end out of 48 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
