NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

  • Per the Athletic’s Jon Machota, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t want to discuss the team’s plans for head coach Jason Garrett, who’s entering the final year of his contract: “I’m not ignoring your question, but I certainly wouldn’t want to respond in any way because that’s just not what we’d want to do relative to that area of our business.”

Eagles

  • Per Wes Hodkiewicz, Eagles HC Doug Pederson said the goal is for WR Alshon Jeffery to practice in full Tuesday to be ready for Thursday’s game. 
  • As for Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, Pederson told reporters the veteran receiver is “probably not going to be there this week.”
  • Jeffery wouldn’t commit to playing Thursday, saying he’s going to see how he feels later in the week. (Ed Kracz)
  • Eagles OC Mike Groh says the team will continue to use second-round RB Miles Sanders prominently in their rotation despite his fumble: “He’s not the first guy in the NFL to fumble. … We’re not going to bury the guy on the bench.” (Mike Garafolo)
  • Eagles LB Kamu Grugier-Hill will make his return to the field on Thursday, though he says he could be on a pitch count. (Les Bowen)
  • Eagles promoted CB Craig James to their active roster. (NFLTR)
  • Eagles waived WR Greg Ward.

Giants

  • According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Giants RB Saquon Barkley is scheduled to see foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Wednesday for a second opinion on his injury. 
  • Barkley was examined by team consultant Dr. Martin O’Malley on Monday. 
  • Giants re-signed LB Nate Stupar. (NFLTR)
