NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Cowboys

Cowboys LB Jaylon Smith said he feels โ€œsubstantially betterโ€ from the torn ACL that forced him to miss his entire rookie season in 2016.

โ€œOh man, well I played an entire season in the National Football League. I played every game, started [six] of them, improved each week,โ€ Smith said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. โ€œI feel amazing. Just the overall comfort of everything I had to go through, it was just a tremendous first year, and itโ€™s going to be a great one this year.โ€

Smith feels that he continuously improved throughout the 2017 season and expects to continue with his progress this year.

โ€œIt showed on the field, week by week my growth, my comfort and just being able to play the position again,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m prepared and Iโ€™m ready to tackle even more this year. Itโ€™s going to be a great year,โ€ said Smith.

Eagles

Giants

  • According to Mike Garafolo, there is โ€œa lot more buzzโ€ about the Giants selecting NC State DE Bradley Chubb at No. 2 overall and teams below New York expect them to take the defensive end.
  • Although Garafolo mentions that drafting Penn State RB Saquon Barkley and trading down is still โ€œin playโ€ for New York, he hears that Chubbโ€™s visit with the Giants went โ€œextremely wellโ€ and that the coaching staff and front office came away โ€œvery impressedโ€ with him.
  • The Giants are hosting UCLA QB Josh Rosen for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday and will meet with Josh Allen and Sam Darnold in the coming days. (Jordana Raanan)
