Bears HC Matt Nagy said he anticipates having a “pretty seamless transition” in regards to Chuck Pagano taking over for Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator.

We’re going to start building our relationship day-by-day just like Vic and I did,” Nagy said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “He’ll have to gain trust, and I’ll have to gain trust back and forth with each other. I feel like it’ll be a pretty seamless transition.”
  • Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears have informed safties coach Rob Anderson that he’s being fired.
  • Adam Caplan reports that the Bears have also informed LBs coach Glenn Pires that he won’t be retained.
  • According to FootballScoop, the Bears are exploring hiring new Kansas State defensive coordinator Ted Monachino.

Lions

  • Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press mentions Patriots WRs coach Chad O’Shea, Rams pass game coordinator Shane Waldron, Lions QBs coach George Godsey, Lions OL coach Jeff Davidson, Charlie Weiss and Darrell Bevell as some speculative options for the Lions’ offensive coordinator vacancy.
  • According to Birkett, the smart money is on a person Lions HC Matt Patricia has worked with before such as O’Shea, Waldron or Godsey.

Packers

  • Jim Owczarski tosses out Jim Haslett as someone who has ties to new Packers HC Matt LaFleur and could be a candidate to coach linebackers in Green Bay.
  • Tom Pelissero reports that the Packers expressed interest in interviewing assistant coach Brandon Staley, but the Bears blocked their request.
