NFC North Notes: Bears, Packers, Vikings

Bears

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky says they are “way ahead” in terms of the offense this year and feels has “a lot better grasp of the offense.”

“I’ve got a lot better grasp of the offense,” Trubisky said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “We’re way ahead as far as timing, operation, getting to the line of scrimmage, getting in and out, adjustment on all of our plays and just knowing where to go with the football — especially against all of these different looks the defense is throwing at us. I feel we’ve done really well. I feel like I have improved my game. We just have to keep getting better.”

Packers

  • Packers WR Davante Adams offered some high praise for first-round S Darnell Savage Jr.: “He’s going to be that guy – I can tell. We definitely got a steal. I know we got him early, but I still think that he could have gone even earlier just based on what he’s doing out there.” (Ryan Wood)
  • Meanwhile, Adams mentioned that the Packers’ new offense caters to a player like Marquez Valdes-Scantling: “I think this offense is really catered for a guy like him. I think he’s seeing that and he’s recognizing it. We’ve had conversations about it, and I think he’s really starting to understand how this thing works. He’s come in and he’s made some plays. And I think that with young guys, it’s hard to know exactly how to deal with that early success, but he’s doing a great job of it right now. I saw the way he hit it in the offseason — from videos and just our communication — and he’s taking it real serious right now.

Vikings

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook says he’s healthy and looking forward to a big 2019 season.

“I’m healthy,” Cook said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I was able to be me [during the offseason program], fly around and be Dalvin. That’s why it went smooth. Now, I’m back having fun.

“The system is set up for us to be great, and we’ve got to go be great. The system is set up for us. We’ve got to go take care of business. We’re going to see in a couple of months.”

  • Vikings LB Anthony Barr told reporters that he has no regrets about having spurned the Jets back in March: “I made the decision for myself and I’m living with it, so the results, we’ll see what happens.” (Chris Tomasson)
